Spay/ Neuter programs

Voucher Program

Starting January 1, 2025 the Thurston County Humane Society is pausing our spay / neuter initiative as we re-evaluate how we go forward with this program.  All current spay / neuter vouchers which have already been picked up at Animal Services will be honored through their expiration dates.  Our goal is to have the updated spay / neuter assistance program back in place later in 2025. UPDATES TO THIS SUSPENSION WILL BE PROVIDED HERE AND ON OUR SOCIAL MEDIA PLAFORMS.

Thurston County Humane Society believes one of the best ways to prevent pet overpopulation in Thurston County is to spay and neuter.

If you have limited income, are resident of Thurston County, and need to spay or neuter your pet, we can help!

We deliver 40 spay/neuter vouchers to Joint Animal Services the first week of every month.  These vouchers available for pick-up on a first-come, first-serve basis until they are gone. They do go very fast, so act quickly!

Please call Joint Animal Services at 360-352-2510, to check if they have vouchers available.

Animal Services has no other involvement in the voucher program other than with distribution of our vouchers.

Once you get a voucher, contact our partner veterinary clinics (listed below and on the voucher) to compare prices and check appointment availability.

We cover only the spay or neuter surgery costs.  Any additional fees are the pet owner’s responsibility to pay. Immunizations are not included with the voucher, but we strongly recommend them. We also recommend pet owners obtain a license for their spayed or neutered pets. Each voucher can be used for up to two pets.

Cats
There is a $25.00 co-pay per cat or kitten.

Dogs
There is a $50.00 co-pay per dog or puppy.
